overview

The Maldives is like nowhere else on earth. A country made up of 1,190 coral islands formed around 26 natural ring-like atolls, spread over 90,000 square kilometres. Iridescent turquoise sea, powder white sand beaches and some of the world’s most sophisticated castaway resorts are waiting for you. Each island is unique, but on the most exclusive there’s a big emphasis on incredible overwater villas, fabulous cuisine and pampering spas whether they are underwater or open 24 hours. The Maldives is renowned one of the best places in the world for scuba diving. Here you can see pristine coral, reef fish, turtles, stingrays and sharks and there’s a big emphasis on protecting this fragile piece of paradise.

what to do

when to go

The Maldives is reliably hot (30c) year round but has two distinct seasons. The dry season (northeast monsoon) from December to April is the best time to go as there are only occasional showers and mostly sunny. The wet season (southwest monsoon) runs from mid-May to November which brings rain, wind and high humidity.
