Harrods is England's most iconic department store.
It was founded in 1834 by Charles Henry Harrod, and has had a total of five owners with its' most recent sale by Mohamed Al-Fayed to Qatar Holdings in May 2010. The Harrods motto is "Omnia Omnibus Ubique"—All Things for All People, Everywhere. Several of its departments, including the seasonal Christmas department and the Food Hall, are world famous.
The store occupies a 4.5-acre site and has over one million square feet of selling space in over 330 departments. This makes Harrods one of the largest department stores in the world.
