We wanted to see the Rockies, it was our travel agent who suggested a few nights on Vancouver Island before we headed east. It turned out to be the best part of the holiday.
4 nights wasn't long enough to do it justice but the combination of snow capped mountains, beautiful tranquil lakes, beaches, surf, vast forests and more wildlife than you could shake a stick at.
Bald eagles - almost as common as Trafalgar Square pigeons - bears, whales, otters, deer, humming birds, sea lions, the list goes on and on. If you love messing about on the water, Vancouver Island is a 'must do'.
