Cruise and Stay in New York

For a slightly longer stay for the independent traveller in Manhattan, we’d recommend the Milburn Hotel in the Upper West Side.
Having crossed from Southampton to Brooklyn on the Queen Mary 2, we spent 12 days in New York before returning to Southampton the same way. I’d recommend this as a flightless holiday with maximum relaxation.
We’ve enjoyed New York several times before, so we didn’t need the central location of many premier hotels. We chose the Milburn for its ‘off-centre’ location at W76th St and because all suites have a small kitchenette. We just loved being able to shop locally, to try to get a flavour of the New York lifestyle.
The hotel is in a relatively quiet, mainly residential area, just a few steps from Broadway. An added bonus for us was the Alamo Car Rental base just two blocks from the hotel. We hired a car for a few days and drove out of Manhattan to visit friends in upstate New York.
If you’re after a 24 day city/cruise holiday, we think this ticks all the boxes.
