When looking for a location for a nice English weekend away we all but gave up trawling through horrible looking B&Bs websites.
Then we found the Marine Hotel in Whitby. This tiny boutique hotel (with just four rooms) has got everything right. It's beautifully designed and the staff are friendly and incredibly helpful. There may not be any tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, but you call the bar to have delicious hot free Illy lattes delivered to your room or great cocktails!
It's in a great location right on the bay. Being woken by fishing boats in the morning just added to the charm. Breakfast in the morning was from an extensive menu featuring various types of egg dishes, kedegree etc. My eggs benedict was delicious! To top it off, it's a few doors down from the Magpie Cafe, which is widely reported to be the best fish and chip shop in England.
I can’t recommend the Marine Hotel highly enough. It certainly costs more than an average Whitby B&B but it is a perfect for an English seaside luxury weekend.
