I’ve just returned from an incredible safari in South Africa. We stayed at Leopard Hills, Singita, Royal Malewane and Camp Jabulani – all of which I would recommend.
I spent most time at Camp Jabulani and if you’re looking for something different to the traditional safari experience by 4-wheel drive, then this camp really does have the wow factor – there are some fabulous unique activities to try. For me, there was no way I could pass up the opportunity to take the elephant-back safari and it really was an amazing experience – these gentle giants really give you a different perspective of your surroundings.
I also visited the Endangered Species Centre where there were wild dogs and cheetahs and I was even lucky enough to be allowed to stroke a cheetah, he was tame of course! I’ve come back with lots of incredible memories and we even saw a Pangolin – a very rare armour-plated anteater, which was a real privilege. All the accommodation was good, and with being a vegetarian, I was a little concerned that I’d have trouble finding something I fancied to eat, but I have to say that the food was rather good at all the places I stayed, particularly at the lovely Leopard Hills and Royal Malewane was very good too, while the Chefs at Singita – I stayed at Ebony lodge which is quite a traditional lodge – were more than happy to cater for my veggie needs.
