A few years ago we had the best holiday ever - a six-week cruise on board Star Clipper. We saw places we never would have visited and met such interesting people.
I shall never forget sailing down the Red Sea from Aqaba at sunset - it was magical. The accommodation and food were excellent without being too OTT and ostentatious and entertainment was whatever the crew and passengers wanted to make it!
We stopped off in Yemen and were entertained to a family meal - of course it is off limits now, unfortunately - and sailed into the Arabian Sea and up the Gulf to Muscat and Dubai. We crossed the Arabian Sea to Mumbai where we stayed a while before going on to Goa and Kerala - I must return there one day for a longer stay. On to Columbo in Sri Lanka next and a trip up to Kandy by train. Then we had to cross the Bay of Bengal and experienced terrific storms but the crew coped well and we reached the Andaman Islands safely and anchored off the coast of Thailand to swim in the turquoise waters. The last port of call was Phuket and then we flew to Singapore for our journey home.
