This was our second cruise on board Queen Victoria and our fourth with Cunard.

For us the Baltic cruise was treated with great anticipation, a real adventure and we were not to be let down.

The itinerary was a country hopping escapade, with no less than eight countries on offer. To do a shore excursion in every country can be tiring, but in most cases well worth the expense and effort. Our favourites were Bruges, Copenhagen and Stockholm and Russia. You should definitely get up early and enjoy the arrival as the ship as it picks its way through the thousands of islands on the approach to Sweden.

Of course St Petersburg was the highlight. The Hermitage, Peterhof Palace etc. and other highlights were worth every penny spent. Now, I am not a ballet fan, but do enjoy the music. We were treated to a top rate production of “Swan Lake” which was thoroughly enjoyable for the music of Tchaikovsky alone.

Would we recommend the adventure, yes, but be prepared to be “all cultured out” by the end of the cruise. Well done Cunard, yet again, an unforgettable experience.
