If you’re sick of the long, dark nights, you can’t go wrong with an escape from the winter gloom to the lovely Nisbet Plantation Beach Club in sunny Nevis – and the resort is even throwing in a free boat transfer from St Kitts.

If you book a seven-night stay for next year before December 31, you’ll be able to take advantage of the free transfer to get you over to this Caribbean island retreat.

Nisbet will send a driver to pick you up from the international airport at sister island St Kitts and whisk you down to the dock at Turtle Beach from where you hop on a motorboat waiting to take you over to the island of Nevis.

The free boat transfer is a celebration of British Airways news that it is to put on a second flight to St Kitts as of next March, giving more access to the island (the offer also includes BA’s existing Saturday flight from Gatwick to St Kitts).

Nisbet Plantation Beach Club sits on the north shore of Nevis and is the only plantation property in the Caribbean which can boast being perched on its own half-mile stretch of white beach.

The beautifully restored Great House, which dates from 1778, has just 36 rooms in charming cottages and all set in 30 acres of lush tropical foliage. Anyone who comes here on a romantic trip will follow the footsteps of Lord Nelson and Frances ‘Fanny’ Nisbet who married at the plantation back in 1787.

These days, couples can take advantage of seeing the island by Vespa – as the hotel is offering all honeymoon couples two days’ use of the Vespas during their stay so you can head out looking for hidden beaches and romantic restaurants around the 36 square mile island. All couples need do is show a valid driving license and purchase a temporary Nevisian license for $25.

And when you get tired of zipping around the island, the hotel has lots of ways to keep guests busy – including the Palms Spa, fitness centre, snorkelling, tennis courts, or even croquet.
